HYHA announces two new programs to help protect the health of our skaters:

HYHA has partnered with Tria Orthopaedic Center to provide a concussion management program for the 2014-2015 season.    All registered skaters can have a baseline test and up to three post injury follow appointments with a TRIA Orthopaedic Center athletic trainer, at no cost.  In addition, trainers will help educate coaches, parents, and players on concussions.  HYHA is committed to concussion prevention, treatment, and safe return to play. 

Properly fitting mouth guards are an essential piece of equipment to not only protect skaters’ teeth, but to help absorb some of the force the head and brain receive upon impact.  As part of its focus on concussion prevention, HYHA has partnered with Shamblott Family Dentistry in downtown Hopkins to provide custom fit mouth guards for the 2014-2015 season.  Custom fit mouth guards made by a dentist offer considerably more protection than boil and bite guards, but they retail for anywhere between $50 and $200.  With this partnership, all registered skaters will be eligible to purchase one custom fit mouth guard at a cost of $15.
